How we protect and manage personal history and privacy.
We respect the privacy and autonomy of every family member and visitor. This archive preserves historical stories while maintaining strict boundaries for living individuals.
Trauma-Informed Autonomy
We assume that entering digital or social spaces involves vulnerability. You have absolute control over how you are represented. No feature forces visibility.
The Armor (Ghost Mode)
We do not display public rosters of living family members. If you register an account, we hide your profile by default. You can view the private archive while remaining entirely unperceived by other users.
Consent-First Social Volume
When we display active reader counts or community responses, we use anonymous volume. We do not list private profiles by name in public rosters. We only count them mathematically in aggregates (for example, "Sarah, Jess, and 3 others") to represent the momentum of the family community without identifying individuals.
Information Collection and Use
Personal Data
We only collect personal information when you explicitly provide it. This happens when you register an account, send a message through the contribution form, or submit historical materials. This information remains private. We do not sell your data.
Web Server Logs
We collect standard technical information, such as IP addresses and browser types, to maintain site security and optimize performance. Our system deletes these logs automatically after thirty days.
Data Retention and Control
You have the right to request:
- The removal of any photograph or story representing you.
- The deletion of your registered account.
- A copy of all data associated with your profile.
